Besco is owned and operated by the father-son team of John R. Smith and Brian E. Smith. Together
they bring over 50 years of jewelry and business experience to the company.
Brian has over 15 years experience in the all phases of the jewelry business. He has worked in
retail, manufacturing, and casting. The past twelve years he has been a senior manager for a
diamond wholesaler. Backing up his work experience is a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley
University in Jewelry and Metal Arts. He combines a huge knowledge of diamonds with the creative
and artistic talent to satisfy anyone's desires for the most beautiful jewelry for any occasion.
Brian and his wife Diane have two active young sons.
John is returning to the jewelry business after a 31-year career as a financial executive with a
Fortune 500 consumer products company. Early in his working career, he worked for a large jewelry
company in Kansas City. He had jobs in the factory covering all phases of jewelry manufacturing
and in retail sales in the company's store. John has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from
Park College and a MBA degree from Cornell University. John and his wife LouAnn are empty nesters
with 13 grandchildren to enjoy.
